Over the years, our charity stall has raised some £14,000 for
good causes. We will again be selling donated goods in aid of Wakefield
Hospice, and we will also be accepting mobile phones and used inkjet
cartridges on behalf of the Hospice. Regrettably, we will not be
accepting laser toner cartridges due to their bulk and the risk of
spillage, but these can be sent or delivered direct to the
Hospice
warehouse instead.

Phones and cartridges
Just bring them along to the show, and deposit them in the boxes
provided on the stall. Please make sure that the items are securely
bagged and clearly labelled, and in the case of mobile phones it would
help to include any chargers and accessories, but do remember to remove
the SIM card beforehand.
Donating goods
Whilst we welcome donations of goods for sale on the Charity Stall,
the Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations limit
what we can accept, as we would have to pay for the disposal of any
unsold large electrical and electronic items like computers, monitors and
printers. Also, we need to be selective about what other goods we can
accept, to avoid a significant proportion of it being left unsold, with
the inevitable storage and disposal problem that this would create.
We are therefore issuing these guidelines as to what goods are
considered unsuitable and which will not be accepted except by prior
arrangement:
- Non-RISC OS computer base units, or older RISC OS units
– RiscPCs, A7000+s and Iyonixes are OK
- Dot matrix printers
- Inkjet printers, laser printers and all-in-one printer/scanners,
unless of relatively recent manufacture and in good condition (please check
beforehand)
- Budget inkjet printers with empty cartridges
- Non-USB scanners
- CRT monitors or TVs
- Any hardware that is faulty or in poor condition, or incomplete
(including associated documentation and software)
- Any old and/or obsolete hardware or software that is unlikely to
attract a buyer
- Magazines on any media, whether printed paper or disc/CD
- Used data media (e.g. floppy discs)
- Software not on original media (i.e. copies)
- Domestic audio-visual equipment, unless of relatively recent manufacture
and in good condition (please check beforehand)
If you are in any doubt, or have something that is excluded by the
above, but which you feel would still be likely to attract a buyer, then
please contact the organisers beforehand using the details provided on
the Enquiries page of the Show web site.
Computers that are not acceptable can be recycled free of charge (in
most cases) at your local council waste disposal site. If not, then
consult Waste Online for your nearest facility –
www.wasteonline.org.uk.
Delivering items
Please bring items to the stall as early as possible on the day, to allow
maximum time to sell them on. We regret that we cannot accept goods in advance
of the show date.
